Marilyn J. (Johnson) Sullivan, 82, of Shrewsbury, died Saturday, October 3rd in her home, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was the much beloved mother of Nancy Buniowski and June Eressy and her husband Michael, all of Worcester, and Robert Sullivan of Bridgeport, CT. She was the world’s best nana to her seven grandchildren: Kimberly Alario and her husband Steven, Kelly Buniowski, Michael and Carly Eressy, all of Worcester, Elizabeth Barker of Los Angles, Caitlin Sebring of West Boylston, and John D. Sullivan, III of Barnstable; and the precious old Nanny to her two great grandchildren: Alex and Elizabeth Alario, both of Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband and best friend of 51 years, John D. Sullivan, Sr. in 2004. She was also predeceased by her son, John D. Sullivan, Jr. and her son-in-law, Steven Buniowski, as well as four siblings, and her mother, Alice (Gibree) Johnson.
Marilyn was born and raised in Worcester. She graduated from the High School of Commerce. She then began a secretarial career at the former Graton & Knight, where she met her future husband. After they married, they moved to Shrewsbury where they spent their lives together raising their family. Marilyn loved life and treated each day as a gift. Her cat, Morris, was her best buddy. She enjoyed travelling with her friends from the Shrewsbury Senior Center, and was an avid sports fan, especially the New England Patriots and the Crusaders of Holy Cross. However, nothing could top her love of the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed the ocean, especially the many happy days spent on Long Sands Beach in York, ME. Above all else, she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who will always remember her Sunday dinners, the special holidays and her unconditional love.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Vijay Kasturi for his kindness and compassionate care of Marilyn.
