Marie A. (Russo) Prince, 83, of Derby St., a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Wednesday, December 27th in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her beloved family.
Marie is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, William T. "Willie" Prince; two daughters, Diane M. Grasseschi and Estelle L. Cappabianca, both of Worcester; two sons, Paul W. Prince and his wife Joanne of Millbury, William T. Prince, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Rochdale; her two brothers, Michael Russo and his wife Lucy of Worcester and Joseph Russo and his wife Dolores of Shrewsbury; twelve grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A brother, Frank Russo, and a sister, Louise Gianfriddo, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Mariano and Marietta (Truglio) Russo; she devoted her life to her husband, her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joys were her family and their interests.
Marie was an active member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, and its women's guild. She volunteered her time during church functions such as bazaars, flea markets and the yearly Italian Festival. She was also a member of the Pope John Council Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and the Beato Angelo D'Acri Women's guild. An avid bowler, she bowled for many years alongside her daughters in several leagues. She was also an enthusiastic Red Sox fan.
The funeral will be held Saturday, December 30th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 29th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Worcester, 01604.
