Marie A. Fell, 93, of Sutton, and formerly of Worcester, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Life Care Center of Auburn after a long illness.

Her husband, John P. Fell died in 1990. Her daughter, Sharon M. Bingham died in 1994.

Marie leaves a grandson, Sean K. Bingham and his wife Lucille A. Bingham, and a great-granddaughter, Bianca Marie Bingham, all of Sutton, and with whom she lived.

She was born in Springvale, Maine, daughter of Arthur and Mildred (Lavallie) Corneau. She lived many years in Worcester, and also lived in Oxford and West Boylston, before moving to Sutton.

Marie was the housemother at the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Worcester Polytechnic Institute for 30 years, retiring in 1999. The fraternity brothers over the years at ATO were Marie’s second family. She loved them and cherished her role in their lives. One year, the fraternity members orchestrated a campaign that successfully elected her WPI homecoming queen. Many of her former frat boys continued to keep in touch with her after her retirement and throughout her final illness.

In her limited time away from the fraternity house, she enjoyed playing bingo.

Calling hours are Wednesday, July 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. After cremation, burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure , P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
