    Marguerite O. (LaFortune) Bourget, 90, of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital.

    Her husband of 60 years, Edward F. Bourget, died in 2007. She leaves four children, Carole A. Peluso of Worcester, Edward H. Bourget of Shrewsbury, Lynne M. Tyrel of Exeter, N.H. and Cynthia A. Krull of Leicester; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her grandson Daniel Krull died in 1994. She was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Norbert LaFortune, and a sister, Rita Morrison.

    Marguerite was born in Fitchburg, daughter of Henry and Olivine (LeDuc) LaFortune. She graduated from St. Bernard's High School in Fitchburg and St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester. She was a veteran of World War II serving as a nurse with a medical unit in the Asiatic-Pacific Combat Theater. She was a registered nurse and was on the nursing staff at St. Vincent Hospital for many years. She also worked at Worcester City Hospital and at other medical clinics in Worcester including a clinic for veterans many years ago at Great Brook Valley.

    Marguerite was a devout Catholic and a member of the Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish. She was a former member of St. Anne's Parish in Shrewsbury, where she was a Eucharistic minister. She was a Girl Scouts Troop leader for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Vernon Hill American Legion Post 435 and the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Assn.

    Marguerite's family wishes to thank the surgical nursing staff at St. Vincent Hospital, Dr. Putcha Murthy at the Fallon Clinic and Dr. Michael Christakis at the Worcester V.A. Clinic for their skilled and compassionate care. Funeral services and burial were held on Saturday. The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, directed arrangements.
