Subscription Update Obituary

    Maralyn M. "Mel" (Alishokis) Quillia, 70, of 3 Cook St., died Thurs., Feb. 25, at home, with her loving husband and daughter by her side.

    She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Norman V. Quillia II; a son, Vincent Quillia of Woodbridge, VA; a daughter, Mary A. and her husband David Flynn of Douglas; 2 grandsons, Daniel and Alex; her twin sister, Marie and her husband Del Monroe of Webster; many nieces and 1 nephew. Born in Westfield on March 13, 1939, Mel lived in Douglas since 2002. Previously she lived in Worcester 35 years.

    Mrs. Quillia was a retail clerk for several area stores for many years. She was a graduate of Commerce High School, Class of 1960, and took nightlife courses for crochet and knitting. Known for her skilled handiwork, she gave away many of her hand crafted items to friends and family. She was well respected by those who knew her and will be missed. She was a member of St. Denis Church.

    Her funeral Mass will be held Sat., Feb. 27 at 11 a.m. in St. Denis Church, 23 Manchaug Rd. Burial in Paxton will be at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Assoc., 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004. Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St. is directing arrangements.
