Subscription Update Obituary

     Mae Alice (Spann) Hampton, 79, formerly of Worcester, MA passed away into the arms of the Lord and her husband David on Thursday, January 3, 2013.
     Mae was born on March 5, 1933, in Hartsville, South Carolina; a daughter of Lemuel and Leona Mae Spann. She grew up in South Carolina, lived many years in Worcester before moving to Alexandria, Virginia several years ago. Mae worked as an office assistant for many years at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company until she resigned. After working at Liberty Mutual, she worked part-time as a bus monitor for children with special needs for Worcester County.
     Mae’s beloved husband and partner of over 49 years, David L. Hampton, Sr., preceded her in death in August of 2005. She is survived by the family she loved so much, three daughters: Joyce Williams of Woodbridge, VA, Elsie Hampton of Worcester, MA and Leona Hampton of Alexandria, VA; five sons, Eugene Spann of Glen Mills, PA, David Hampton, Jr. of Toledo OH, Richard Hampton of Capitol Heights, MD, Brian Hampton of Riverside, RI and Michael Hampton of East Hartford, CT., her brother Julius Spann of Worcester, MA, twenty grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
     Friends and relatives may visit with the family from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2013 prior to the service at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA. Funeral services to follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
