Madelyn K. (Jasper) Sheahan, 79, of Worcester, died Sunday morning, May 15, 2011 in her home.
She leaves five children: Lynneanne Lefebrvre of Worcester, Teresa Janaitis and her husband James of New Milford, CT, Rosemary Lindner and her husband Henry of Worcester, Margaret Sheahan of Webster, Franklin “Buck” Sheahan of Worcester; ten grandchildren:, Matt, Christopher, Brendan, Adam and Samantha; James Jr. and his wife, Jill, Ben and Andy; and Henry Jr. and Bonnie; a sister, Margaret Hebert of Worcester; a brother, James Jasper and his wife Ellie of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of James and Madeline (Gilrein) Jasper.
Madelyn was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She graduated from St. Peter’s High School, then from City Hospital in 1952 as an RN. She was a terrific nurse. She worked in many capacities here in Worcester. Later, she obtained a BA in Education from Assumption College and a MA in media from Worcester State College. She dedicated with joy the remainder of her life’s work to the mental health field, working at Worcester State Hospital, Community Mental Health Link and United Health Corp. After retiring, she was a committee member of the human rights commission at Worcester State Hospital. She shared her gift of intuitive counseling with many. She was a member of the Worcester Emblem Club, the American Society of Dowsers and the American Archaeological Society. Her grandchildren were her world. She loved the ocean, her black lab Maxie, and found beauty in just about everything. Our hearts will ever be full with memories and love.
Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, are Wednesday, May 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, May 19 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Donations may be made to the Massachusetts Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove Street or the St. Joan of Arc Building Fund, 570 Lincoln St., Worcester 01605.
