Subscription Update Obituary

    Luther E. Scheffler, 93, died Saturday, August 30, 2009. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Alice (Hosley) Scheffler; two sons, Dennis of Worcester & Douglas of Arlington, VA.; a sister, Wilma Giro of Arkansas; a grandson, Michael.

    Luther was born in Gretna, Louisiana the son of Felix & Marie (Haas) Scheffler and lived in Washington, DC for many years before moving here. He has worked in food service for many years; first at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, later at the Vieux Carre in New Orleans and for Government Service Incorporated for many years until he retired. Luther was a graduate of the University of Maryland.

    Following cremation a graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at 11:00 AM in Worcerster County Memorial Park in Paxton. Donations may be made to the Childrens Hospital Foundation, 111 Michigan Ave. North West Washington DC 20010 or to the Barre Rescue Squad, PO Box 201, Barre, MA, 01005. Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 S. Barre Rd., Barre is directing arrangements.
