Lucy (DeMauro) Rano, 80, of Colby Ave., died peacefully Sunday, May 20, 2007 in the Knollwood Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband Maurice F. Rano died in 1995. Lucy is survived by her loving family, two son’s, Richard J. Rano and Michael A. Rano both of Worcester, with whom she lived; two granddaughters, Natalia Alicea of Worcester and Selina A. Rano of West Hartford, Ct; and her great-granddaughter, Sierra whom she was so proud of. Lucy also leaves four brothers, Pasquale “Patsy” DeMauro, Michael DeMauro, and Santo DeMauro Jr. all of Worcester, and Joseph DeMauro of Florida; two sisters, Geraldine DeMauro Shemeligian of Worcester, and Mary DeMauro Lizotte of Denver; and many nephews and nieces. Lucy was predeceased by a daughter, Linda S. Rano Aquino, two granddaughters, Catalina and Christina, and a brother, James DeMauro.
Lucy was born in Worcester daughter of Santo and Beatrice (Massisso) DeMauro and lived here all her life. She attended Commerce High School, and worked at the former Sprague Electric Company for many years before she retired. Lucy was a long time member of St. Joan Of Arc Church, and was an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed going to Foxwoods, but most of all she loved being with her family. Lucy will be remembered as a caring and thoughtful lady who will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Lucy’s funeral will be held Thursday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St. Calling hours in the funeral home are 5-8 P.M on Wednesday. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
