Lucile E. (Syner) Hokanson, 90, formerly of Rollinson Rd., died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, in UMass Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus, after a short illness.

Her husband of 50 years, Richard P. Hokanson, died July 28, 1992. She leaves a daughter, Janice E. Baronoski of Leicester; two sons, Rev. Richard P. Hokanson, Jr., of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, formerly serving in the Worcester Diocese, Stephen M. Hokanson of Worcester; three granddaughters, Krissi Forgues and her husband Mark of Auburn, with whom Lucile made her home, Bethe Baronoski of Marina del Ray, Cal., Rebecca Baronoski of Oakham; two great-grandsons, Jay and David Forgues; two nieces, Marcia McGlynn and her husband Lenny of Holden, Marilyn Roy of Boylston; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and her cherished caregiver and friend, MaryAnn Byszek. A sister, Lois Labossiere, and a brother, James M. "Bud" Syner, both predeceased her. She was born in Springfield, daughter of the late Henry H. and Lois L. (King) Syner. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and from the training school of the New England Hospital for Women and Children in Boston. She lived most of her life in Worcester. Lucile was a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital for many years. She worked in the Maternity Department and later became Director of the Obstetrics Clinic before retiring in 1981. She was a long time member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and enjoyed helping others. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and the beach at Seabrook, NH.

CALLING HOURS will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 9, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, in OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY CHURCH, 25 Fales St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. The family suggests donations in memory of Lucile be made to a charity of your choice.
