Subscription Update Obituary

    Lorraine M. (Auger) Demers, 77, of Millbury died on Wednesday, February 9, 2011, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a long illness.

    Her husband of 50 years, John R. Demers, Sr., died in 2005. She leaves four children: John R. Demers, Jr., and his wife, Laura A. (Flanagan) Demers, of Oxford; Linda M. Lavallee and her husband, William J. Lavallee, of Northbridge; Robert S. Demers and his wife, Veronica M. (Tessicini) Demers, of Milford; and Donna M. Swenson and her husband, Walter K. Swenson, Sr., of Millbury; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, Joseph Demers, died in 1956. Her brother, Robert R. Auger of Millbury, died in 2005.

    Born in South Grafton on October 22, 1933, daughter of the late Alderic J. and Eva M. (Girardin) Auger, she lived there until she moved to Millbury in 1957. She was a graduate of Grafton High School.

    Mrs. Demers worked as a bookkeeper for several years prior to dedicating her life to raising her children and supporting her family in all their endeavors. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish, Millbury. She enjoyed years of camping at Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and on Cape Cod, travels to Florida, and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    Her funeral will be Wednesday, February 16, from Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 11 A.M. in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 10 Waters St. She will then be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, February 15, from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. Donations in her memory may be made to the Braille and Talking Book Library, Perkins School for the Blind, Perkins Trust Office, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472.
