Subscription Update Obituary

Lorraine G. (Cournoyer) Gaboury, died peacefully Monday, March 19th at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, surrounded by her family.

Born in Webster to Rose M. (Plasse) and Joseph H. Cournoyer, Lorraine lived on Electric Street in Worcester for most of her life. Her beloved husband of 43 years, Norman A. Gaboury died in 1989.

She is survived by her son, Paul A. Gaboury and his fiancée Jo-Ann Woupio of Paxton; her daughter, Claire D. Gaboury-Constantin and her husband Frederick T. Constantin of Sturbridge; her granddaughter, Christine E. Taylor and her husband Scott of Auburn; her granddaughter, Melinda L. Provost and her fiancée Ryan Colangione of Indian Orchard; her grandson, Jason Provost of Sturbridge; her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Nathan, and Rachael Taylor; and her brother, Omer B. Cournoyer of Auburn.

She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Paula A. Gaboury, and her sisters, Lea M. Wood, Dorothy D. Rushford, and Jeannette Liberis, as well as her brother Adrian Cournoyer. Lorraine and her husband were founding members of North American Martyrs’ Parish in Auburn. A longtime caregiver for her parents, Lorraine worked in her youth as a lifeguard at Coes Pond, and also worked for Wright Machine, Murphy Cleaners, and Fashion Dry Cleaners.

She loved knitting, reading, crossword puzzles, a good cup of coffee, and being with her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, March 22nd from 5-8 PM in Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 23rd at 9 AM from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 10 AM in North American Martyrs’ Church, 8 Wyoma Dr., Auburn. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Auburn District Nursing Association, 191 Pakachoag St., Auburn, MA 01501.
