Subscription Update Obituary

    Lois Jean (MacFarlane) Murphy, 72, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010, at her home.

    She leaves her partner of 19 years, James Jenese; three children, Richard G. Murphy and his wife, Susan of Brentwood, NH, Robert F. Murphy and his wife, Pamela of Auburn and Lori J. Murphy and her husband, Gregory Young of Natick; nine grandchildren, Alicia Buono, Ryan, Gerin, Robert, Jillian, and Erin Murphy, Cassie, Colin and Camryn Young and two great grandchildren, Lily and Connor Buono. She also leaves her former husband, George F. Murphy of Worcester.

    Mrs. Murphy was born in Waterbury, CT the daughter of George and Helen (Kennedy) MacFarlane. She graduated from South High School and Worcester Junior College. She was the Vice President of Mortgage Services at WCIS, Westborough Savings and later worked for other local banks. Mrs. Murphy loved animals and volunteered at and supported the Elaine Bosler Humane Society. She also volunteered with Easter Seals. Mrs. Murphy loved the beach and supporting her Red Sox and Celtics. She embraced her Scottish heritage and would often attend Scottish events.

    Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, October 13 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. A memorial service will take place at 7:00 PM during the visiting hours. Burial will be on Saturday, October 16 at 10:00 AM in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial contributions may be made to UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605.
