Subscription Update Obituary

Lloyd C. Prescott, 91, of 69 Pommogusett Road, died at home on Tuesday, December 26, 2006.

He leaves his wife of 10 years, Vieno M. (Takala) Tuukanen Prescott; his son, Dr. Gordon F. Prescott of Princeton, West Virginia; a daughter, Susan Prescott Brown of Rutland; a step-son, Allan R. Tuukanen of Auburn, Georgia; a step-daughter, Ruth Lambert of Rutland; four grandchildren, Heather Brown and John A. Prescott both of Rutland, and Karen and Timothy Prescott both of Princeton, WV; two great-grandchildren, Victoria and Kaitlin Prescott both of Rutland; and three step-grandchildren, Andrea Tuukanen of Glendale, CA, Amy and Robert Lambert of Rutland. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Catherine "Kay" M. (Murray) Prescott who died in 1996, and his brother Edward Prescott.

Mr. Prescott was the fifth generation of Prescotts born in Rutland, son of Clarence E. and Nellie A. (Nicholson) Prescott. He was a graduate of Commerce High School and Becker Junior College with a degree in business. He was an Army veteran of World War II deployed in the 136th Evacuation Hospital in France. He later worked at Rutland Heights Veteran's Hospital, E.D. Marsh Oil Co., Prescott's Poultry Farm and most recently at Devereux School, all in Rutland. He was an accomplished wood worker. His greatest pleasure was working on his home, which was an historical lumber mill he converted into his private residence. He was a life long member of the First Congregational Church and the Rufus Putnam Lodge of Masons, both in Rutland.

A memorial service for Mr. Prescott will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, in the First Congregational Church of Rutland, 264 Main Street. Interment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, First Congregational Church of Rutland, P.O. Box 484, Rutland, MA 01543. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, is directing arrangements.
