Subscription Update Obituary

     Lionel R. “Leo” Poirier, 79, of Henshaw Street, in the Rochdale section of Leicester, died Tuesday, March 27 in Hope Hospice at Joanne’s House in Bonita Springs, FL after an illness.

     He leaves his wife Elaine P. (Desautels) Poirier, a son Stephen Poirier of Leicester, three daughters Pamela Griffin and her husband Michael of Spencer, Susan Leveillee and her husband Herve of Spencer and Michele Malkasian and her husband Matthew of Whitinsville, five brothers Marcel Poirier of Cherry Valley, Bertrand Poirier of Grafton, Edgar Poirier of Rochdale, Roland Poirier of San Diego, CA and Emile Poirier of New Hampshire, three sisters Rita Tremblay of Jefferson, Jeanne Karle of Grafton and Marie DiDonna of Grafton, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother Paul Poirier and a sister Doris Simonian.

     Leo was born in Rumford, Maine, son of Emile and Marie (Fortier) Poirier. He owned and operated Poirier Bros. Construction Co. for many years before retiring. He and his wife spent winters in Bonita Springs, FL. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and boating.

     The funeral will be held Monday, April 14 from Morin Funeral Home, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Memorial Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 759 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, April 13 from 3:00-5:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hope Hospice @ Joanne’s House, 27200 Imperial Pkwy., Bonita Springs, Fl., 34135.
