Leonard “Lenny” Stranieri, 85, of Worcester passed away on Friday, May 11, 2007 after an illness.
His wife Louise (Tomaiolo) Stranieri died in 2005. He leaves his daughter Emily, and her husband Dennett Harley of Worcester, a granddaughter April Joy; a sister, Lena Laurin of West Boylston, a brother, Alfred Stranieri Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. A brother Joseph Stranieri predeceased him.
Lenny was born in Worcester son of Alfredo and Amelia (LaVacca) Stranieri, and was a member of Christ Baptist Church where he was a deacon, trustee, and a choir member. Lenny was also a member of the former Italian American Drum Corps, and a former President of the Happy Homesteaders Square Dancing Club. Lenny enjoyed playing the guitar and entertained residents at many local nursing homes. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII stationed in Hawaii when Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941. Mr. Stranieri was a tool maker for Rockwood Sprinkler Co. and Killeen Machine Tool Co.
Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park Paxton. There are no calling hours. The family requests flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 33 Congress St. Boston, MA 02210. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. is assisting the family with arrangements.
