Subscription Update Obituary

   Leo "Murph" J. Murphy, 59, of 61 Pine Tree Terrace, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family and friends, on Friday, August 25, 2006.

   He leaves his wife of 29 years, Linda J. (Mott) Murphy; his son, Walter R. Murphy and his wife Tracy of Petersham; a daughter, Heather J. Murphy of Gardner; a brother, Michael Murphy of West Brookfield; two sisters, Joanne Bourge and her husband Pete of Kennebunk, ME, and Kathy Fowler of Desert Hot Spring, CA; and two grandchildren, Aimee and Jacob. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of Joseph L. and Ann M. (Condrin) Murphy, and lived in North Grafton before moving to South Barre in 1984. He attended Commerce High School and was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War serving aboard the U.S.S. Wright and served four years in the Navy reserves.

   Murph was owner and operator of Arco Alarm Company in Worcester for 27 years. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in South Barre, was a Junior Warden and served on the vestry. He was a member of the U.S.S. Wright Association and enjoyed making furniture and remodeling homes with friends and family.

   A graveside service for Murph will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 28, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6, Brookline, MA 02445-9924; or UMass Memorial Hospice, P.O.
