Subscription Update Obituary

    Leo J. Mason, 73, of Linden St., died Thursday, December 3, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Louise P. (Laukaitis) Mason of Oxford; three children, Susan L. Martin and her husband Terrence of Worcester, John P. Mason and his wife Nancy of North Brookfield, and Diane M. Kimball and her husband John of Thompson, CT; a sister, Doris West of Worcester; a brother, Oliver J. Mason Jr. of Millbury; a granddaughter, Kelsey K. Martin of Worcester; and many sisters-in law, brothers-in-law, nephews, and nieces. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Oliver J. Mason Sr. and Cecile (Puize) Vienneau, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1972.

    Mr. Mason worked for the Laborer’s Union Local 243 in Worcester for 37 years, retiring in 1998. During that time he worked for many local contractors. He was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford. He was a member of the Webster and Auburn Elks, and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

    A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, December 6, 2009, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Massachusetts, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451-1942, or to the American Heart Association , 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
