Subscription Update Obituary

Kevin L. Lanagan. 66, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Born and raised in Cherry Valley, Kevin was the son of John and Mareita (Nussey) Lanagan of Cherry Valley. He resided in Spencer for the past 40 years.

Kevin was a graduate of Worcester Vocational Technical High School, where he trained as an electrician. For 45 years, he owned and operated Lanagan Electric, Inc. in Spencer, earning respect and admiration within the community.

A past president of the Exchange Club of Spencer, Kevin was also actively involved in scouting during his youth, proudly achieving Eagle Scout.

He is remembered as a dedicated provider for his family and a man of unwavering integrity. Kevin cherished spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren, and found joy in working in his yard and caring for his beloved hummingbirds and orioles. He was selfless and loved all animals, especially his dog Scooby.

Family was of utmost importance to Kevin, and he eagerly anticipated gatherings that brought them closer together, including summer camping trips to Connecticut, and Wells Beach, Maine. Recently, Kevin and Donna fulfilled a longtime dream by purchasing a home in Bradenton, Florida. Kevin’s warmth, dedication, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Kevin leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 27 years, Donna K. (Lang) Lanagan; his parents, John and Mareita Lanagan of Cherry Valley, his daughter, Meaghan Lovejoy and her husband, Stephen of Spencer; his stepsons, Ryan A. Knipe of Spencer and Michael W. Knipe and his wife, Amy of Sterling, CT; his sisters, Karen Chiaravallotti and her husband, James “Jim” of ,Cherry Valley and Kathleen Prunier and her husband, William of Cherry Valley ; and his three cherished grandchildren, Logan Lovejoy, and Michael and Kadence Knipe. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, July 24, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Kevin’s funeral service will be celebrated at 12 pm on Thursday, July 25 in the Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Second Chance Animal Services Adoption Center, 111 Young Rd, East Brookfield, MA 01515.
