Karen L. McIntire, 70, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA, on Monday, July 29th after a lengthy illness.

Karen is survived by her longtime companion Edward Riggles of Holden, loving daughter Kelly Feiz of Holden; sons Jimmy McIntire of CT, Jesse McIntire of MA, and Michael McIntire of MA. She will also be deeply missed by her brothers Robert Jones and her sister in law Kathy, Jimmy Jones, Steven Jones, and Chris Jones. Karen’s memory will be held dear by her grandchildren Chance, Ariana, Aleciyah, Jaylin, Aurora, Austin, Jaxon, and Carter.

Karen was born in Worcester on October 1, 1953, to her late parents Clyde Jones and Margaret Hicks. She was predeceased by her brother Tommy Jones whose presence she now joins in the eternal peace.

In her earlier years, Karen attended Oxford High School and later went on and completed her education by earning her GED. Karen was also a licensed manicurist. She had a passion for horses and animals. Karen enjoyed playing bingo and long drives on county roads. Karen had an infectious laugh and brought life to any room she entered. Karen’s determination and kindness were evident throughout her life as she fulfilled her role as a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend.

Karen’s life was an embodiment of selflessness and unwavering dedication to her family. Her warm smile and nurturing spirit will be dearly missed but forever remembered with love and gratitude by all who had the privilege to know her. Karen’s commitment to her family was unwavering, and her legacy of compassion will be forever treasured by those who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial contributions be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter. A private graveside service will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.

We are especially appreciative of the compassionate and attentive care Karen received in the ICU of Mass General Hospital in her final days.
