Joseph P. “Red” Paladino, Sr., 91, of Paxton, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 12th, 2011 with his devoted family gathered beside him after a long period of declining health.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 54 years, Catherine A. (Donahue) Paladino; his three devoted children, John “Jay” Paladino and his wife Maria (Foley) of Worcester, Joseph P. Paladino, Jr. and Mari Ann Paladino both of Paxton; a brother, Angelo Paladino and his wife Franca of Worcester; two grandchildren, Laura and Allie Paladino; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Three brothers, Frank, Anthony and John Paladino, and two sisters, Sara DeCaro and Palma Sbrogna all predeceased him. Joseph was born in Worcester, a son of the late Giovanni and Columbina (Setaro) Paladino. He graduated from Commerce High, joined the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific and lived in Worcester before moving to Paxton in 2004.

He was a member of St Columba Parish, the Eastside Post 201 American Legion and the Laborers Union. Joe’s enjoyments included cooking, sports and especially his family. His grandchildren inspired him and could place a smile on his face whenever they entered the room.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Wednesday, November 16th from 4 p.m to 7 p.m in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be celebrated Thursday, November 17th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 a.m in St Columba Church, 18 Richards Ave. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park.
