Subscription Update Obituary

Joseph M. Horan, 90, of 50 Shrewsbury Street, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 27th in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness.

Joe is survived by his wife of 69 years, Hattie (Pielasczyzk) Horan; three sons: James Horan of Worcester, Michael G. Horan of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Joseph Horan, Jr. of Ashland; five grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. A son, Robert Horan, passed away in 2002. Joseph was born in Worcester, a son of Samuel and Bessie (Wamen) Horan and had lived here all his life. Joe was a World War II, U.S.Marine Corps Veteran.

Joseph owned and operated an I.T.O.A, taxi cab many years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, The Italian American Post 3, VFW, the Worcester Marine Corps League, and the Eastside Improvement Club. He was an avid Red Sox fan.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday, March 1st at 12 noon in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held from 11 to 12 noon in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church, 72 Mulberry St., Worcester 01604.
