Subscription Update Obituary

   Joseph H. Demers, 60, of Webster and formerly of Worcester, died Saturday, June 24, in the UMass-Memorial Medical Center after an illness.

   He leaves a son, Joseph J. Demers and his wife, Helen Demers of Worcester; a daughter, Diana M. Demers-Slovin and her husband, David Slovin of Amherst; four grandchildren: Eli and Sage Slovin of Amherst and Natalie and John Demers of Worcester; a close friend, Judith M. Sousa of Webster; and his former wife, Linda R. Demers of Worcester.

   He was born in Worcester, son of Joseph R. and Agnes R. (McFarlane) Demers and has lived in Webster since 1998.

   He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1965. He was a tackle on the varsity football team and was selected for the Telegram & Gazette All-City football team.

   He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and trained for the medical corps.

   He worked in the Abrasives Division of the Norton Co. for 34 years, before retiring. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Red Sox and Patriots. The funeral and burial were private.
