Subscription Update Obituary

Joseph E. Whittlesey, 76, of Cherry Street died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in UMass Memorial Hospital, Worcester after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 46 years, Theresa R. (Whitenett) Whittlesey, an aunt Mary Zamis of Worcester and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Whittlesey was born in Worcester, son of Earl B. and Eva N. (Laprade) Whittlesey. He was a custodian for the Spencer-East Brookfield School District for several years before retiring. Previously, he was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and an honorary member of the Spencer Fire Department. He enjoyed fishing, watching television, playing computer games and spending time with his family.

The funeral will be held Monday, March 28 from J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday from 5:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Spencer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 147, Spencer, MA 01562.
