Subscription Update Obituary

Joseph C. “Charlie” Royer, age 92, beloved husband of Madeleine A. (Sayers) Royer, died Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Care One at Millbury.

Charlie was born in Northbridge, MA, son of the late Charles and Marie (Lamontagne) Royer.  He was a retired Comptroller, having worked for many years at Dana Corporation.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.

Charlie loved nature, being outdoors and working in his yard.  In his younger years he enjoyed sailing with his brother. He had many quality years enjoying time in the outdoors with his grandchildren, Justin and Jeffrey when they were school age.

In addition to his wife, Madeleine, Charlie is survived by a son, Patrick Royer of Worcester; a daughter, Barbara Stafinski and her wife, Michele McGrath of Worcester; two grandchildren, Justin and Jeffrey Stafinski; two great-grandchildren, Parker and Peyton Stafinski.  Charlie was predeceased by his brother, Joseph H. “Harvey” Royer and by his sisters, Rita Blaine, Marie “Terry” Bingham and Gil Lepage.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Charlie’s graveside service, with military honors, on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:00 am in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.  Shaw-Majercik Funeral Home, 48 School Street, Webster has been entrusted with arrangements.
