John P. Boehnke, 82, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He is now reunited with the love of his life, his wife, Brenda J. (Dwyer) Boehnke, who predeceased him in 2011.

Born and raised in Worcester, John was the son of the late William and Mary (Urban) Boehnke. He was a proud graduate of South High School. He later went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. John worked as a foreman in the wire industry for many years, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic.

John had a lifelong love of reading — rarely seen without a book or his daily newspapers nearby. He was an enthusiastic sports fan, faithfully following his favorite teams and sharing his passion with those around him. He also had a deep love for watching movies, both in theaters and at home. He enjoyed any opportunity to go out for a meal.

He was predeceased by his brother, William J. Boehnke; his sister, Judith A. Lesniewski; and his beloved grandson, Trevor John Boehnke. John is survived by his sister, Susan M. Griffin and her husband Gerald; his brother, Paul D. Boehnke; his brother-in-law, Paul Lesniewski; his sister-in-law, Madeline (Newark) Boehnke; his devoted daughters, Tara M. Gazda and Liza J. Lucas; and his cherished grandchildren: Savannah Boehnke, Haleigh Sutkus and her husband Tyler, Colby Gazda, Jacalyn Noyes, Macenzie Piedrahita and her husband Ronald. He also leaves behind a great-granddaughter, Inayah Patton, as well as his sister-in-law and closest confidant, Sandra Golden, and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Worcester Vet Center, 255 Park Ave, Suite 900, Worcester, MA 01609. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
