John J. Martin, 87, of 14 Rosewood Drive, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at the Henry Heywood Hospital after an illness.

   He was the husband of 53 years to the late Dora (Roy) Martin who died September 13, 2003.

   He leaves one daughter and son-in-law Anna (Martin) and Gil Richard of Westminster; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerry and Ellen Martin of Worcester, and Paul and Sandra of Northridge, California; eight grandchildren, Amy and Mark Richard of Westminster, Nathan, Eric and Elizabeth Martin of Worcester, Christopher and Lindsey Martin of Washington, and Brittany Vodery of California; and many brothers and sisters of New Brunswick, Canada.

   John was born in Chatham Head, New Brunswick, Canada on February 12, 1919, a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Vautour) Martin. He worked for the former Quality Seafood Co. in Worcester as a Supervisor prior to his retirement. He loved painting, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved going to his cottage in Canada.

   A Funeral will be held from the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main Street, Westminster, Mass. 01473, on Saturday, August 19, 2006, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church, 10 Church Street, Westminster, Mass. 01473.

   Burial will follow in the Worcester County Memorial Park, Richards Avenue, Paxton, Mass. 01612. Calling Hours will be in the Funeral Home on Friday, August 18, 2006, from 6:00-8:00 P.M.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Martin’s name to the St. Edward the Confessor Church Building Fund, 10 Church Street, Westminster, Mass. 01473.
