Subscription Update Obituary

Barre- John D Degnan, 52, of 32 Grandview Terrace, a retired state hospital nurse, died Friday night in Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after a long illness.

He leaves a son, J. David Degnan Jr. of Hubbardston; four daughters, Suzanne Cyganiewicz of Winchendon, Judith L. Budzinski and Sarah J. Degnan both of Gardner, and Danielle Bass of Worcester; a brother Paul Q. Degnan of Barre;and seven grandchildren.  He was born in Holden son of Charles D. and Monica D. (Leadbetter) Degnan, and lived here most of his life.  He served in the Marine Corps.

Mr. Degnan was a registered licensed practical nurse.  He worked at Worcester State Hospital for several years, retiring in 1993.  He was a member of Barre Post 2, American Legion.

After cremation, a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.  There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Massachusetts Affiliate, 40 Speen Street, Framingham 01701.  Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 South Barre Road, is directing arrangements.
