Subscription Update Obituary

John A. Wright, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 4, 2011, in the Lutheran Healthcare Center. His wife of 66 years, Ida L. (Ekstrom) Wright, died in 2008. He leaves 3 daughters, Susan D. Olson and her husband Lloyd of Worcester, Linda M. Horman and her husband Paul of Narragansett, RI, and Jean C. Lalone and her husband David of Shrewsbury; a brother Robert Wright of Leicester; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren: Scott Olson and his wife Jill of NC; Mark Olson, his wife Kimberly and their daughters Cloe, Hope, and Ella of NH; Jason Horman, his wife Stacey and their son Jackson of MA; Jessica Hempfling of NH; Nathaniel Wright Lalone and his partner Volker Ahlemeyer of England; and Emily Wright Lalone of MA; and many nieces & nephews. Three sisters predeceased him.

He was born in Whitinsville, son of Mary McCullough and John S. Wright. He graduated from Boys Trade School. He enlisted in the Army and served at the 125th AAF Base Unit from 1942-45. He was a machinist for the Leland Gifford Co. and a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Worcester.

The funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 125 Holden Street, Worcester, Monday, April 11, at 11:00 a.m. A calling hour will also be held at the church on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

To express their appreciation to the Lutheran Healthcare Center, the family requests donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Resident’s Activities Fund, Lutheran Healthcare Center, 26 Harvard Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements.
