Subscription Update Obituary

JoAnne M. (Mulvey) Roy, 69, of Worcester, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 16, 2011, after several years of declining health.

Her husband, Joseph J. Roy, died in 1998. She leaves two sons, Michael J. Roy and his wife Kimberley of Rutland and Kevin F. Roy and his wife Kathleen of Worcester; two sisters, Elizabeth Cavanaugh of Paxton and Mary F. Prince of Princeton; seven grandchildren, Elyce, Kaitlyn, Jillian, Alyssa, Andrew, Amanda and Anna; several nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Alice Wright and Helen Mercure predeceased her.

Mrs. Roy was born in Worcester, the daughter of Michael J. and Helen (Fitzgerald) Mulvey. She was a 1951 graduate of South High School and a graduate of Salter Secretarial School. Mrs. Roy was employed by State Mutual Insurance and Smith Valve for several years. She was a charter member of North American Martyrs Church in Auburn. Mrs. Roy will be remembered for facing her many illnesses with courage and a positive attitude.

The family would like to thank Beaumont Nursing Center and all of those who have cared for her, for their compassion over the many years of her illnesses.

The funeral is Saturday, June 18th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Friday, June 17th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation , 29 Crafts Street, Newton, MA 02160, to the American Diabetes Association , 330 Congress Street, Boston, MA 02210 or to the American Stroke Association , 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
