    Jeremiah O'Leary, 88, of Burlington, formerly of Worcester, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009.

    Born September 17, 1921 in Ballaugh, Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland. He was the devoted husband of the late Mary (O'Shea) O'Leary.

    Loving father of Marie McGovern of Springfield, Michael O'Leary of Worcester, and Donna O'Leary-Abkowitz and her husband Miles Abkowitz of Burlington. Cherished grandfather of John McGovern, Christine Schultz, and Sarah Abkowitz. Adored great-grandfather of Felicia Nitch and Ryan Schultz, and John Jeremiah, Zackary, and Dakota McGovern. Dear brother of Bridget and her husband Mirick G. Perkins of Worcester, and sister-in-law Dorothy and her husband James Bargnesi of Gardner. Dear brother of Timothy O'Leary and his wife Nancy of Ireland; Mrs. Eileen Hoare, Margaret and her husband Michel Rosso, and Philomena Prynn of England; and Mary and her husband Ben McCuskey of Australia. Loved by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

    Predeceased by brothers, Cornelius, Michael, Patrick, and Christopher O'Leary; and sisters, Kathleen, Nora, and Sheila O'Leary, and Mrs. Elizabeth Salmon.

    Jerry was a stationary fireman at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, retiring at age 75 after 47 years of dedicated service. Always remembered for his kind heart, strong and sweet spirit, sense of humor, and unconditional love.

    Visiting hours will be held at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster Street, Worcester, on Sunday, December 20th from 2 to 5 p.m.

    The funeral on Monday, December 21st from the funeral home at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester. Burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
