    Jean F. "Nanny" (Clapp) Canty, 81, of 1182 Main St. was welcomed home into the embrace of her loving husband Johnny on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010. She was surrounded by her loving family when she passed.

   Her husband John J. Canty died in 2006. She leaves four sons, Michael G. Canty and his wife Felicity of Charlton, Kevin J. Canty of Hadley, Joseph J. Canty of Leicester, Patrick J. Canty of Leicester; two daughters, Diane E. Canty-Colby and her companion Kevin of Leicester, Eileen A. "Wink" Canty-Mondino of Thompson, CT; a sister, Mary Rivet of Whitinsville; 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Harry R. Clapp, Jr. & Ralph F. Clapp and three sisters, Alice E. Faber, Ruth M. Hultin & Florence L. Kniskern.

    Mrs. Canty was born in Grafton, daughter of Harry R. and Ada E. (Whitney) Clapp. She was a member of St. Pius X Church and a former member of their alter society. She was a former member of the Leicester Mothers Club, Fish and the St. Joseph's School parent teacher group. At one time she worked at a convalescent home for children in Wellesley Hills. She enjoyed knitting, shopping and cooking. She loved to collect recipes, teddy bears and spoons. One of her greatest joys was to share stories with little children. Heaven could wait no longer for this angel of ours.

    The funeral will be held Friday, Aug. 6 from MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will preceded the funeral from 8:30-9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1818, Memphis, Tenn., 38101.
