Subscription Update Obituary

     Janice "Jan" M. (Phelps) Hayward, 75, died Monday, July 2, 2007 in UMass Memorial Hospital, University Campus, Worcester, after a short and serious illness.
    
She leaves her loving husband of 49 years, Roy E. Hayward, Jr.; two sons, Douglas L. Hayward and Curtis P. Hayward, both of West Boylston; a sister, Jean Nagel and her husband Wilfred of Bend, OR; and three nieces, Pamela, Sandra and Erika. She was born in Holden, daughter of Clarence E. and Marion J. (Parker) Phelps, and has lived in West Boylston all of her life. She was a 1950 graduate of the Major Edwards High School in West Boylston.
    
Mrs. Hayward was a life-long member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston and in her early years, Jan offered her service as a Sunday School teacher. For several years she was a clerk at Norton Co., Machine Tool Division. She was a dedicated housewife and devoted mother who enjoyed dining out and trips to Cape Cod.
    
Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 6th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. The funeral service for Mrs. Hayward will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 7th, in the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, 26 Central Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, 26 Central St., West Boylston, MA 01583-1653; or the West Boylston Fire Dept., Ambulance Fund, 39 Worcester St., West Boylston, MA 01583; or UMass Memorial Foundation, Cardiovascular Fund, 365 Plantation St., Suite 100, Worcester, MA 01605-2395.
