Janet R. (Carlberg) Swenson, age 82, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on May 10, 2025. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 40 years, David F. Swenson who predeceased her in 2015.

Born and raised in Worcester, Janet was the cherished daughter of the late Rudolph and Ethel (Olson) Carlberg. She attended Worcester public schools and graduated from Commerce High School.

Janet began her professional life as an accounting clerk in the business offices of Memorial Hospital and the former Benson & Wood Automotive Company. Most recently, she worked as a supervisor for Rutland Council on Aging Nutrition site, where her dedication and warmth touched many.

She and David enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States for his work, embracing each new place with enthusiasm and grace. Janet also had a deep love for gardening, treasured time spent with her family and was a devoted cat owner to her beloved Becca.

She is survived by her dear brother, Paul Carlberg of Groton, and will be missed dearly by extended family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 16 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520. Interment will immediately follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Janet’s memory to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester.
