Janet M. (Prizio) Anderson, 89, of 35 Julio Drive, Shrewsbury, died Thursday, January 6, 2011 in Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a sudden illness.

    Her husband of 45 years, Ernest W. Anderson, died 2001. Janet leaves a brother, Peter Prizo and his wife, Mary of Worcester, MA. Many nieces and nephews on the Prizo side of the family tree, including nephews: Francis Prizio, Ricci Prizio and a niece, Donna M. (Prizio) Muzante and two great nephews. She also leaves family on the Anderson side of the family including a nephew, Arthur Anderson and 20 nieces, nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Janet also leaves behind the Flanagan and Rinaldi families who are as much family to her as her own.

    She was born in West Brookfield, daughter of the late Carmine and Camille Prizio and resided in Shrewsbury for the past 15 years.

    Janet served as the Director of Social Services for the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for over 20 years before she retired. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society at Southgate and enjoyed line dancing.

    Relatives and friends of Janet's are invited to visit with her family on Friday, January 7, 2011 from 3:00-6:00PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 from the funeral home with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Residents Activities Fund, 40 Julio Dr. Shrewsbury, MA 01545 or to Saint Anne's Church Human Services, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
