Subscription Update Obituary

Mrs. Janet (David) Mathews, 76, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Janet is survived by her son, Franklin Mathews and his wife Susan of Auburn; a daughter, Diane Harrison and her husband Bill of Southbridge; five grandchildren: Abigail and Emily Harrison, Ty, Olivia, and Julia Mathews; a sister, Mary Rizk of Worcester, and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Franklin D.R. Mathews, and three siblings: Eli Kalil, Elsie Haffty and George “Jimmy” Kalil.

Janet was born May 23, 1935 in Worcester, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late David Kalil David and Wajehah (Haddad) David.

A lifelong resident of Worcester, Janet was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who’s joy was to cook for her family, spend quality time with them and also traveling to Old Orchid Beach. She loved her weekly social events with her friend’s at the local Bingo game, playing cards and watching the Red Sox.

Janet worked at UMass Medical Center for fifteen years as a billing – data specialist.

She was a parishioner of St Joseph-Holy Family Church of Worcester.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday August 16th at St Joseph-Holy Family Church, 35 Hamilton St. Worcester, MA 01604 from 10:30am to 11:00am. Her Funeral Mass will immediately follow in the Church at 11:00am. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park Cemetery, Paxton. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Holy Trinity Hospice Care, 1183 Main St Worcester, MA 01603. Funeral arrangements under the direction of FAZIO FUNERAL HOME.
