Subscription Update Obituary

     James V. “Jimmy” Guertin, 56, of Worcester lost his courageous battle to cancer on Thursday, August 29th surrounded by his family in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home. He leaves his children, Christopher Guertin of Laconia, NH, Shaun Guertin and Mikaela Guertin both of Belmont, NH; a granddaughter, Emily Guertin; his mother, Florence (Reidy) Guertin of Worcester; two brothers, George P. Guertin and his wife, Carol of Holden, John Guertin and his wife, Barbara of Worcester; three sisters, Karen Walsh and her husband, James of Worcester, Lynne Noon and her husband, Lawrence of Worcester and Susan Serrato and her husband, Andrew of Paxton; his beloved, Sandra (Small) Guertin of Belmont, NH and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother and best friend, Joseph “Joey” Guertin.
     He was born in Worcester the son of the late George P. Guertin. Jim partnered with his father for many years to build the family business, George P. Guertin Trophies in Worcester. He went on to operate Guertin Awards with his brother, John. Jimmy also worked for Polar Beverages. He was an avid skier. In his earlier years he worked ski patrol at many area ski resorts. He was a devoted Patriots and Red Sox fan. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and caring for his mother.
     His funeral is Wednesday, September 4th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Tuesday, September 3rd from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, c/o The VNA Care Network and Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
