James M. Mahoney, 62, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at home. He leaves his four children, Michael Mahoney of Worcester, Mark Mahoney and his wife Amadis of Kissimmee, Fla., James Mahoney, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Thompson, Conn., his daughter, Wendy Mahoney Kelley and her husband Timothy of Worcester, with whom he lived; five grandchildren and two great grand children; Eva Mahoney, a brother Joseph Mahoney and his wife Janice of Fla.; two sisters, Virginia Mahoney of Ill., and Angela Paul and her husband Gerry of Ill., and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Worcester son of Joseph R. Mahoney and Louise (Dinato) Mahoney. He graduated from Boys Trade High School and attended Worcester State College.
Mike was a machinist by trade and worked at Acumeter Laboratories. He also owned and operated Lincoln News on Lincoln Street for a number of years. Additionally, he tended bar at Arcadia White Eagle.
He was a member of the Arcadia White Eagle, The Eagle Club, and the 200 Sportsmans Club. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and was an avid New England sports fan.
Calling hours are Tuesday, May 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Wednesday, May 23, with a service at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
