James E. Komorek, 64, of Olde Canal Way, died Tue. Jan 15 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years Jeannine M. (Poirier) Komorek; a son Thomas J. Komorek of Worcester ; a daughter Justine A. Gould and her husband Paul J. Gould of Rutland; 3 grandchildren, twin boys Tristan S. and Trevor J. Gould and a granddaughter Jadalynn C. Gould; a sister Barbara Rice of Rutland; 2 nephews and a niece.
Born in Worcester, on June 22, 1943, he was the son of the late James and Helen (Bagdonovich) Komorek. James has lived in Uxbridge for the past 8 years, previously living in Worcester for 55 years. He was a graduate of Worcester Vocational School and served in the Massachusetts National Guard. He worked at Norton Co. / St. Gobain in Worcester for 38 years, first in the Machine Division and then in the Abrasive Division, before his retirement in 2001. He was a volunteer at the Uxbridge Senior Center and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Uxbridge. He enjoyed traveling extensively, for many years before and after his retirement. He was a sports enthusiast, especially a fan of the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots. Jim loved vacationing, and really loved the beach. He found great joy in spending time with his family and friends, who where all an important part of his life. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Vijay Kasturi and staff, and all who contributed to assisting him in any way with love, patience and friendship.
His funeral will be held Sat. Jan. 19 from Tancrell-Jackman Funeral Home, 35 Snowling Rd. Uxbridge with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 71 Mendon St. (Rt. 16) Uxbridge. Following Jim's wishes burial will be private. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sat. Jan. 19 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Please omit flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
