Subscription Update Obituary

Ida Mary (Gedenberg) Rasku, 98, of Rutland, died Thursday, February 15, 2007 in Holden Nursing Home.

Her husband of 48 years, W. Arthur Rasku, died in 1985. She leaves two sons, Paul A. Rasku and his wife Valma of Woodinville, WA and William A. Rasku of Worcester; three daughters, Mary V. Pelton of Rutland, Lois A. Chinigo and her husband James of North Oxford and Evelyn I. Ramos of South Lyon, MI; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Her son, Michael J. Rasku, died in April of 2006. Her grandson, Loren E. Ramos, daughter-in-law, Ann E. Rasku, son-in-law, Joseph E. Pelton, four brothers and four sisters, predeceased her. She was born in New Ipswich, New Hampshire, daughter of Michael and Maria (Wargelin) Gedenberg, and lived in Rutland since 1936.

Mrs. Rasku was a Nurse’s Aide at Rutland Heights Hospital and for Rutland State Sanatorium for many years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of the West Barnstable Laestadian Lutheran Church.

The funeral service for Mrs. Rasku will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 19, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holden Nursing Home Residents Activity Fund, 32 Mayo Drive, Holden, MA 01520.
