Howard L. Coates, 83, of Shrewsbury, died Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in Westborough Health Care Center after an illness.
He leaves his children, Pamela A. Kelleher and her husband, Francis of Worcester, Paul H. Coates and his wife, Jean of Shrewsbury, James A. Coates and his wife, Lisa of Grafton and Cynthia E. Perrulli and her husband, Bruce of Bethlehem, PA; also survived by eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his ex-wife and mother of his children, Yvonne (Bankoff) Coates of Westboro, MA.
Howard was born in Boston, raised in Revere, son of the late Howard L. and Mildred (Keating) Coates. He graduated from Revere High School and later attended and graduated from Burdett College.
He was employed as a Retail Clothing Manager for many years at the former Ware Pratt and R.H. White’s, both in Worcester before he retired.
Howard was a proud veteran serving his country with the Unites States Navy during WWII.
Funeral Services for Howard will be held privately in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial with military honors will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Vista Care Hospice, 2 Willow Street, Suite 102, Southborough, MA 01745-1020.
