Howard G. Kane, 94, of Worcester, died December 25, 2011 at Tatnuck Park Assisted Living in Worcester. He was born 19 February 1917, in Worcester, the son of Herman G. Kaplan and Mary Adler Kaplan.

He graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester, in 1936. He attended the School of Business, Boston University for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy (Seabees) in 1943, serving in the Pacific Theater in Hawaii until 1946. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Naval Reserve in 1950, he worked as a salesman for his family business – American Plumbing and Heating Company in Worcester.

He was actively involved in a number of organizations, including Congregation Beth Israel, the U.S.S. Ironsides American Legion Post #423, the Aletheia Grotto, the Masonic Temple, the Kiwanis Club, Troop 7 of the Boy Scouts of America, and Camp Putnam.

He is survived by a sister Doris Jamron of Ann Arbor, MI; his daughter Susan Kane of Oberlin, OH; son William Kane of Petaluma, CA; son Robert Kane of Brownsville, TX; grandson Tristan Carrier of Oberlin, OH; granddaughter Rachel Kane of Petaluma, CA; and grandson Christopher Kane of Petaluma, CA; as well as his long time companion Barbara Cote of Worcester.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his sister Joan; and his brother Julian.

Burial took place at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
