Subscription Update Obituary

    Henry T. Flynn , 86, of Worcester, died Saturday afternoon, January 15, 2011 at home with family.

    His wife of 55 years, Alice M. (Smith) Flynn, died in 2008.

    He leaves four children, Deborah A and her husband Edward F. Martel, Thomas H. and his wife Susan M. Flynn, all of Worcester, Linda M. and her husband Jack Petty of Barre, and Nancy E. and her husband Philip J. LaHair of North Grosvernordale, Conn., 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

    His brothers, Michael and John "Frank" Flynn predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his special pal Annie.

    Henry was lifelong resident of Worcester. He was the son of Patrick and Josephine (Callahan) Flynn.

    Henry was an Army veteran of World War II. He served with Company E 7th Infantry Regiment in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He received a Purple Heart and Victory Medal.

    He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 43 years, before retiring. He also worked for Polar Beverages for 17 years.

    Henry was a lifelong member of St. Bernard's Parish now Our Lady of Providence Parish, where he was a regular collector at Mass.

    He was an avid golfer and longtime member of Green Hill Golf Club. He was also a member of the Greendale Retired Men's Club.

    Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, are Tuesday, January 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, January 19 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
