Henry E. “Hank” Moran, 87, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Henry was born in Burlington Vermont, March 9, 1924 to the late Henry E. McCuen, Sr. and Clara (Morris) McCuen. He was later adopted by the late Jon E. Moran and Lena (Morris) Moran. After graduating from Cathedral High Scool in Burlington, Henry served as a Sergeant in the 101st Airborne Divson’s, 5th Moble Radar Squadron, as an Intercept operator during World War II.
Upon leaving the miltary, Henry made his way to Worcester were he met his beloved late wife of 49 years, Marguerte I. (Egnatosky) Moran and worked for 37 years as a painter for the Worcester Housing Authority before retiring in 1991.
Henry leaves behind a son, Craig E. Moran; three daughters, Hope E. (Moran) Favreault and her husband Edward T., Dawn M. (Moran) Sobec and Renee’ F. (Moran) Remington; a grandson, Joseph E. Azzarone whom he raised, in addition to thirteen other grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Henry was predeceased by his two daughters, Denise C. (Moran) Azzarone and Michele M. Moran; a sister, Mary U. Moran and a grandson, Brian M. Favreault.
Henry was a member and past president of the Worcester Painters Union Local #48 and a member of the Cna Burma Inda Veterans Assocaton. Hank was also a member of Saint Joan of Arc Curch. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spendng time with his family.
Henry’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 1st from the Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a 10:00 a.m. Mass in Saint Joan of Arc Curch, 570 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Bural will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the faimily Tuesday, May 31st from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his wife Marguerte’s name to the Alzemer’s Assocation of Eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
