Subscription Update Obituary

    Helena J. (McDonald) Mahan, 56, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family.

    She leaves her husband, Kenneth E. Mahan; her children, Joyce M. McGinty and her husband Michael of Webster; Richard S. Chapman of Worcester, Russell L. Chapman of Worcester, Ruth M. Vosburg and her husband Joseph of Clinton, and Kenneth E. Mahan, Jr. of Somerville; her siblings, Shirley Plum, Francis McDonald, Kenneth McDonald, Donna McDonald, Roger McDonald and Joseph McDonald; her grandchildren, Benjamin, Greg McGinty and Antonio Chapman. Helena was predeceased by her brothers, Robert & Donald and by her sister, Jeanne. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Omar and Beatrice (Degnault) McDonald and lived in the Auburn and Worcester area most of her life. She graduated from South High School. Helena worked in the custodial services department of the College of the Holy Cross for the past 12 years. She received the Claire Burns award from Holy Cross and thee Good Attendance Award from the Fallon Clinic while she worked there. Helena was an avid Elvis fan, and had visited Graceland several times.

     Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on FRIDAY, September 3rd from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A graveside service will be held on SATURDAY, September 4th at 11 AM at the Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. If desired, memorial donations may be sent the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
