Subscription Update Obituary

     Helen D. (Haven) Fernandez, 94, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Her husband, Artemio Q. Fernandez, passed away in 1975. She is survived by her devoted children, Gloria M. Derry and her husband Peter M. Derry Jr., of Worcester, Shirley H. Gaito and her husband Dr. Raymond Gaito of Niantic, CT, and her son Walter A. Fernandez and his wife Roberta of Pepperell, MA. She leaves 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 5 great great-grandchildren. She was an only child of Irving F. and Margaret H. (Crowley) Haven.
    
Helen was born and lived in Worcester all her life. She worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Planning Department of the Worcester Police Department and retired in 1980. She belonged to Our Lady of The Rosary Church.  Helen was a member of the Guild of Our Lady of Providence, The Caravan Club and secretary of the Challenge Club. She was a volunteer for many years at St. Vincent Hospital. She was an avid Line Dancer and loved to play cards with her family and friends and enjoyed traveling.
    
Funeral services will be held from NORDGREN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 300 Lincoln Street, Monday, June 25, with a 9:30 Service at Our Lady of The Rosary Parish, 25 Fales St.  Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, Sunday, June 24 from 5-8 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, 25 Fales St., Worcester MA 01606.
