Subscription Update Obituary

Harrison “Chick” T. Stedman, 77, of 5 Prospect Terrace, died early Friday afternoon, March 23, 2007, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.
     Mr. Stedman was born in Wakefield, R.I. on Dec. 1, 1929, the son of Louis A. and Jenny A. (Holland) Stedman and had lived in the Leominster area the past 40 years. He served on active duty for 23 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a chief warrant officer (CW3) in 1973. During his military career, he was decorated and awarded with the following: Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He served two tours in the Vietnam campaign. After his retirement from the Army, he worked as a food service manager at numerous nursing homes in the area and retired from his second career in 1996 while working at the Wachusett Manor Nursing Home in Gardner.
    
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Alice (Charpentier) Stedman; two daughters, Joyce Casale and husband, Thomas, of Merritt Island, Fl., Cynthia Phillips of Fayetteville, N.C.; six sons, Stephen Stedman and wife, Corinne, of Mountain View, Calif., Peter Phillips and wife, Debra, of Leominster, Daniel Phillips and wife, Carol, of Leominster, Thomas Flanagan and wife, Connie, of Las Vegas, John Flanagan and wife, Pam, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., and Daniel Flanagan of Portland, Maine; two brothers, James Stedman of Rhode Island and Samuel Stedman of Oklahoma; three sisters, Hazel Handwork of Ohio, Jane Donnelly of Florida and Barbara McNulty of Rhode Island. He also leaves nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. Stedman was predeceased by three brothers and a sister.
    
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Leo’s Church, 128 Main St., Leominster. Calling hours will be private. Burial with committal prayers will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the Worcester County Memorial Park Cemetery, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Simond-Sinon Regional Cancer Center at the HealthAlliance Hospital/Burbank Campus, 275 Nichols Road, Fitchburg, MA 01420. The Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster is assisting the family with arrangements.
