Subscription Update Obituary

Gunhild "Gunny" M. (Hanson) Magnuson passed away peacefully Thursday, March 1, 2007 at Ledgewood Manor Nursing Home in Windham, Maine, surrounded by the wonderful staff and her loving daughter. Her husband of 50 years, Robert G. Magnuson, died in 1996. She leaves her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert N. and Diane Magnuson of Colorado Springs, CO; her daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Douglas Dufour of Windham, ME; and her granddaughter, Kristin Magnuson, a student at CSU and residing in Fort Collins, CO. Gunny was predeceased by her brothers, Eric Iver Hanson and John Harold Hanson, and her sister Astrid Angelsten.

She was born in Worcester on January 18, 1921, the daughter of Eric J. and Beda S. (Bergstrom) Hanson. She was a graduate of North High School. Gunhild was a member of the Scandinavian Athletic Club, Nordic Lodge, and for years was a member of the Swedish Dance Club. She worked at Astra Pharmaceutical for many years. Gunny was a beautiful person inside and out and will be missed by many friends at SAC and Nordic Lodge, her friends at Park Danforth in Portland, ME and Ledgewood Manor in Windham, ME; and her longtime friends and neighbors of Northboro, MA.

Funeral services will be held at NORDGREN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA on Friday, March 9th, at 2:00 p.m.  A calling will be held prior to the funeral at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.
