Gloria Y. (Kudzol) Fletcher, a resident of Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, died peacefully on Thursday, September 29, 2011, her 80th birthday, in the company of her loving family. She was born in Dudley on September 29, 1931, the daughter of Francis and Blanche (Lefebvre) Kudzol and has lived in Worcester for the past 6 years. Prior to living in Worcester she lived in Hampton, NH.
Gloria lost her loving husband of 48 years, Henry W. Fletcher in 2000. She is survived by her son, Daryl P. Fletcher and his wife Barbara Perin of Boulder, Colorado; her daughter, Melissa A. McDonald and her husband Gerald C. McDonald of Rutland; her two grandchildren, Andrew Fletcher, M.D. and his wife Karin Fletcher of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine and Jesse Fletcher of Dudley; two great-grandchildren and a nephew. She is predeceased by her sister Lorraine B. Manley.
She graduated from South High School in Worcester and went on to work for State Mutual Insurance Company in their Worcester office for over 20 years. She had been an active member of St. George Church in Worcester for many years.
Gloria cherished being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is described by her family and friends as being generous, kind and caring; was always smiling and making the people around her laugh and very much enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and attending Mass. One of her favorite past times was spending time at her beach house.
The Fletcher family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester for the exceptional care she received during the past five years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass for Gloria on Monday, October 3, at 10 a.m at St. George Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association , 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
