Subscription Update Obituary

    Gilda R. (Corio) Ritacco, 94, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, July 14th 2010 with family by her side.

    Gilda's husband of 65 years, John A. Ritacco passed away in 2001. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Rose Marie Troio and Lynda F. Ritacco both with whom she lived; two brothers, Frank J. Corio on Cape Cod and John G. Corio of Worcester; a sister, Connie DiTaranto of Auburn; five cherished grandchildren, Debra and John Troio, Lori Battista, Melinda Hnilica and Adrianna Ritacco; five great grandchildren, Eddie, and Daniel Battista, Deanna, Jordan and Troy Hnilica; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Three brothers, Patrick, Thomas, and Orlando "Olie" Corio and two sisters, Antoinette Baroni and Stella Piccirelli all pre deceased her. Gilda was born in Worcester, a daughter of Gaetano and Adelaide (Ranucci) Corio. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School and has lived here all her life.

    Gilda worked more than 30 years for the City of Worcester, retiring as a supervisor from the Belmont Home in 1978.

    She was a member of St Anne Church. A former member of St Margaret Mary Church. Gilda's family was the center of her life, cherishing the time she spent with her daughters and grandchildren. She loved to cook, crochet and garden.

    The funeral will be held Saturday, July 17th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00 a.m in St Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, July 16th from 5 p.m to 8 p.m in the funeral home.
